for anita

THIS THING MAKES ME BLOODY CRACK UP LIKE HELLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anita, you have to see this website: http://fuldans.se/?v=yuxiylhvsv

It's a Soderling toy thing and you press the random words (probably in some European language) and the Soderling toy does it. it's HILARIOUS.

Pictures speak a thousand words... at the ballet (#4)

We are quite literally... at the ballet.

Natalia Makarova in The Taming of the Shrew or A Midsummer Night's Dream judging by the costume and the pose

hilarious xD

Titania and Oberon from A Midsummer Night's Dream

Margaret Fonteyn sits by to watch a class, head poised to one side... thinking

Margaret Fonteyn, always poised, always maintaining a whiff of elegance. Here she poses as Odette from Swan Lake, a role she is most well-known for playing.

The lovebirds of ballet back then. Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn were renowned as partners for ballets for over 3 decades. Their strong partnership brought crowds to the ballet. It was all the rage on the ballet scene back then. It was known that they both loved each other, but let's just say... Rudolf was a homosexual D=

Darcey Bussel in a much more contemporary pose.

The Australian performing The Nutcracker (2009)
I think this is the Waltz of the Flowers scene judging by the costumes and the general position of the dancers. I WISH I HAD THEIR TURNOUT!!!!!!!!! and their costume :)

Diana Vishneva in Raymonda

the Bolshoi Ballet performing Swan Lake. the symmetry from dancer to dancer is somewhat soothing. the lighting makes each dancer appear to be made of ice, their tutus merely layers of frost, their figures simply porcelain

Alison Roper in Raymonda as Raymonda. I wish I had hyperextension!!!!!
Just so you know, this series will never actually end until I can't be bothered to find awesome pics :)

Pictures speak a thousand words... at the ballet (#3)

There is something particularly special about this. I suppose it's the girl, waiting in the wings, waiting for the gesture to run on stage and assume the role of a princess. She anticipates, the full audience, the harsh dazzling lighting, so much glamour, so much expectation.

Claudia Dean in the wings of the Genee International 2009 (she won it AND she's an aussie XD)

deceit and death play a part in La Bayadere

Kristen Hill from the Georgia in a photoshoot. i love this pic... it's as if she leads the light. reminds me of the mistborn series actually XD

the Canadian Karen Kain in Giselle

teehee. the undoubtedly ugly sisters from Cinderella trying to impress us with their beautiful noses. Did you know that the Ugly Sisteres in Cinderella are always played by guys to make them more aptly named :)

Cecelia Kerche as Odette in Swan Lake

the seriously flexy, Brazilian Cecelia Kerche in Coppelia

The Australian Ballet performing Divergence in Paris. How awesome are those tutus? They just ooze wickedry ;)

The Australian Ballet doing some serious stuff over in Paree performing Divergence. I love that ballet.. for its tutus. :)

Alina Cojocaru from the Royal Ballet as Cinderella in... guessed it.. Cinderella

wimby update

The's women's draw here at the QF stage is really unexpected. It goes down likes this:

- Serena Williams vs. Li Na <---that was expected

- Petra Kvitova vs. Kaia Kanepi <---- this was not expected but i wanted kaia to go far to make me feel better about Sam's first round loss to her

- Kim Clijsters vs. Vera Zvonareva <--- should be interesting because both are on a roll (kim beat justine just like i predicted XD)

- Tsvetana Pironkova vs. Venus Williams <--- seriously hoping that someone can beat Venus

On the other hand, the men's draw is much more understandable apart from the one-off 'WHAT THE FFFFFFFFFFFFFF????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" <-- very explicit language on my part. Anyhow, this is how it's going to go down:

- Roger Federer vs. Tomas Berdych <--- Federer to win I think

- Novak Djokovic vs. Yen Hsun-Lu <--- insert "WHAT THE FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!" This should've been Hewitt vs. Roddick but then comes along Hewitt's stupidity and this Taipei dude who knocked RODDICK out o.0, news indeed my friends. The World No. 92 had little reason not to act the way he did:

- Jo-Wilfred Tsonga vs. Andy Murray <--- something for the British press to maul over

- Robin Soderling vs. Rafael Nadal <--- for Anita's sake, Rafa to win :)

Aspirations

- After watching Dancing with the Stars, I REALLY want to learn ballroom dancing cos it looks really fun and awesome.

- take contemporary dancing/contemporary ballet lessons

- do a pas de deux with a guy (not some girl pretending to be a guy ==') <--- pas de deux is a dance you do with a guy in ballet en pointe. if you know french, i think it means dance for two???

- LEARN FRENCH OR SOME AWESOME SOUNDING EUROPEAN LANGUAGE or... have a friend who has an exotic accent i.e - French, Brazilian, Spanish.... except I actually wouldn't be listening to what they're saying, just their awesome accent :)

- have something to do with dancing or lots of movement when i grow up

- grow TALLER!!!!!!!! XD

- wear a skirt without feeling... strange :) if you know me, i ALWAYS unless my wardrobe has been bombarded by some jeans-evaporating substance, i always wear jeans. actually, my mum bought me one today and i have no idea what you wear with it. any ideas??? it's a dark grey skirt that has a wide waistband that sits on your..... you guessed it! your waist!! it goes up to a bit above my knees.

- go to a european country and eat in that restuarant in the eiffel tower XD, not sure about snails though

- be able to drive without crashing into anyone within the first 30 seconds because that really WOULD be an accomplishment

- invent a toilet that has an air freshening device attached to it so that when you press the flush, it also activates the spraying of air freshener. it would really help sometimes =P

- watch that Cure for Insomnia movie that Eve was talking about. it's a movie that goes for 60-something hours D=

- make my parents really proud of me :) i love you mummy and daddy

- dance all day :) because dancing makes me HAPPYYYYYYYYY

Pictures speak a thousand words.... at the ballet (#2)

Gilian Murphy as Odette in Swan Lake
Gilian Murphy as Odette in Swan Lake

an old painting of one of the first ballet academies that were opened in Paris, the homeland of ballet. i admire their dresses, efficiently tied back with lengthy ribbon

Gilian Murphy again... not sure what ballet. the elegance she maintains in this position is beyond my understanding

Eva Edvokimova as the cheeky sylphide in La Sylphide

Eva Evdokimova as a shy Odette in Swan Lake

the piquant Ekaterina Maximova, absolutely luminous in expression and movement

matches fabricated made of epic proportions

what to say?
Let's start by saying, all I knew about John Isner and that Mahut guy (I really should find out what his first name was) was that Isner was creepily tall and the Mahut guy (he can just be called that :)) was the dude who won his last set 24-22 in his last qualifying round. D=

That dude is clearly made of... epic proportions.

Checklist:
- played ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN GAMES IN THE 5TH SET
- previous record was 6hrs and 34 minutes at Roland Garros 2004 I think WELL, THEIR game lasted 10 bloody heart-stroking hours, dubbed by the UK Herald as a '10-hour freak show' - that sounds about right to me - officially longest tennis match ever in the history of tennis in a grand slam, probably anywhere, and will probably stay that way until the human race ceases to remain on Planet Earth

- each player beat previous record of most aces in match. previous record was set by Ivo Karlovic of 70-something aces- impressive enough. BUT along comes Isner with 98 aces and Mahut with with 95. someone should really check if they're actually human D=
- players with most courage and bravery and determination and most damn-this-i'm-just-gonna-get-that-ball-even-if-it-means-i-have-to-kill-myself-reaching-for-it attitude =D. in the 5th set at 49-50, Isner hits the ball into Mahut's left forehand corner and its so wide out and most players would just be like 'i give up. can't be stuffed. i'll just leave that point be' but NOOOOOOO mahut goes for it and hits the ball and hits so hard that the racket flies out of his hand and he is literally jumping through the air for like 10seconds. i am thoroughly concerned for their mental strength and health. how concerned i am :) HONESTLY, they just kept GOING and GOING.

This morning, Gen told me in Geo about how there was some game at Wimby that lasted 10 hours and I seriously thought she was trying to trick me and see if I would believe her but honestly, who would????? so i went on the wimby site, and hey presto! '10-hours tussle match' =O <---- that my friends was my expression except my mouth was something like a gazillion times bigger

so there you go. some matches are just made of epic proportions. hope they don't die in the process of trying to win a first round match at Wimby. have fun guys =P

just take a look at that scoreboard... and isner

play finally suspended due to darkness. hehehe. isner with his hump-looking but sticking out. it looks like mahut is ready to eat isner up :) that brings me to a vital question: how'd they pee and poop and eat during the match?????? i would be starving. load up on carbs boys

mahut and that ball he went for :) talk about determination and exhaustion

fed express is completely suicidial for its passengers e.g- Roger Federer

he just lost second set. i think i might actually go shoot roger federer if he loses this game. for GOD SAKE!!:

- we are not gonna farewell a reigning champion on day one
- you're the freaking hot fave and you're losing to some unknown dude
- get those break points!!!!
- you better win or i swear Forty Deuce and MindTheRacket (Brodie) are going to go psychotic, Twitter will crash because you lost and everyone will be like OHMYGOD
- I do not want to read depressing newspaper articles about how you're going to retire
- I've never been your fan but you seriously have to win or its jsut goingn to be a damn disgrace

Fed Express... crash-crash-innnnnngggggggggggg

OHMYGAWD. Federer just lost his first set at Wimby against some dude whose last name is Falla. He is down in the 2nd set 4-3. bad bad news for Fed fans. D=

I guess this just proves how unpredictable tennis can be. If Federer actually LOSES this game, this whole tourney has been turned on its hand and dunked in a seriously deep pit of poop. yummy....

There was something about this being Fed's 4th time dropping a first set in a Wimby game and each past time, he's lost the game.

My Dream Wimby Predictions =D

Well, I'd prefer not to make completely logical predictions so this is how I think Wimby should go:

1st quarter
How it should go down as:
4th Round:
- Maria Sharapova d. Serena Williams XD
- Li Na d. Agnieska Radwanska
QF
- Li Na d. Maria Sharapova

2nd quarter
How it should go down as:
4th round:
- Victoria Azarenka d. Caroline Wozniacki
- Samantha Stosur d. Flavia Pennetta (oh yea =D GO SAMMY!!!!!!)
QF
- Samantha Stosur d. Li Na (why not I ask you? methinks she's good enough =P)

3rd quarter
How it should go down as:
4th round:
- Kim Clijsters d. Nadia Petrova (sorry, I decided that Nadia Petrova should beat Justine beforehand- MWAHAHAHA)
- Yanina Wickmayer d. Jelena Jankovic (Wicky seems to have potential)
QF
- Kim Clijsters d. Yanina Wickmayer

4th quarter
How it should go down as:
4th round:
- Vera Dushevina d. Marion Bartoli (Dushevina can beat Franny first-revenge for beating Sam at RG final + I don't much like Bartoli)
- Shahar Peer d. Ekaterina Makarova
QF
- Shahar Peer d. Vera Dushevina
*Note: I kicked Venus out for retiring in a 1st round match =P)

SEMIs
- Samantha Stosur d. Li Na (OH YEAH; told you this wasn't logical)
- Kim Clijsters d. Shahar Peer

drumrolllllllllll............

FINALS
Samantha Stosur defeats Kim Clijsters (fireworks explode out of nowhere)
*Note to gods out there: Remember I wrote this jokingly so don't jinx Sam, OK?

Pictures speak a thousand words... at the ballet (#1 in a series)

the enchantingly luminous Ekaterina Maximova from the Bolshoi Ballet (60s I think)
R.I.P - 1939 to 2009

Diana Vishneva in Jewels - Rubies

Darcey Bussel in a much more contemporary role

Darcey Bussesl from the Royal Ballet in ... La Bayadere or Le Corsaire, i have no idea which

Nothing can quite capture the magic of a corps de ballet on stage quite like this - like a dark dark night, with only the rustles of a crow and a million stars to keep you company

the tiny Cuban Alicia Alonso as 'The Black Swan' aka Odile

Alexandra Danilova creating gorgeous lines

the Russian Alexandra Danilova from the 50s in the role of Coppelia in Coppelia (kekeke, i want that bow XD) - this is the scene where Coppelia pretends to be a doll

the one and only Alessandra Ferri strikes a pose- check out that calf muscle!

Agnes Letestu as Odette

Agnes Letestu looking frail (anorexic in modern terms)

*laughs like a maniac*

This person just makes me laugh XD. 'and especially your athlete body! You're really sexy! lol!'
I'm trying to imagine Sam's face after reading this on her website. o.0

There's nothing like yellow tulips and sunshine to make you happy :)

For my birthday, Eve gave me these really pretty yellow tulips and they are actually still alive despite having been without water for 3 days and I think they're GROWING!!!! According to Liz, the trick is to cut the stems diagonally and add a pinch of bi-carb to the water. =D

I've discovered that I love waking up and walking into the living room and see a vase of yellow tulips and the sunshine streaming in through the blinds. In fact, it's feeling more like summer than winter these days. A sign of global warming, or just blue skies in winter????

Anyhow, here is a formula for happiness. You should try it some day....

YELLOW TULIPS + SUNSHINE = HAPPPYYYYYYYYYY

I also wouldn't mind waking up to a rainbow anytime soon :)
